Before a pigeon leaves the Breeding Station it is severely tested for possible physical defects. The objective is that only healthy and well-shaped pigeons are sent to our customers.
Depending on the time of the year the total pigeon population at the Breeding Station varies from 12,000 to 16,000 racing pigeons. The mission of the staff at the Breeding Station is twofold: to keep the pigeons healthy and improve the quality of the breeding pigeons. In order to achieve both targets proper hygienic conditions are a constant priority and severe selection of the breeding couples is of the utmost importance.
on 1 February 1998 the breeding station’s pigeon museum was officially opened. The museum presents the rich past of pigeon racing in Belgium and Europe. Access is free during the visiting Sundays in February and March.
in this part of the breeding station the pigeons are selected, ringed and possibly prepared for shipment to the new owners. In the Natural breeding station we apply the same strict “gold ring rules” for more than 50 years.
The Natural Breeding Station has of 55 lofts with 660 compartments housing between 12,000 and 16,000 pigeons. Nowhere else in the world as many racing pigeons are bred professionally on one spot.
the De Scheemaecker loft deserves to be mentioned specially. As founders of “Natural Granen”, the breeding station and as developers of the Heirman pigeon clock, the De Scheemaecker family has been a driving force behind pigeon racing in Belgium and far beyond for 3 generations.
